Greek Pita Pizzas

01.14.20

NOTE TO SELF: get a manicure before shooting recipe posts. If my nails aren’t too distracting to you, please continue reading.

This recipe is so simple because it really, for the most part, is just an assembly of food onto pita bread. The most “rigorous” thing about this entire concoction is the homemade Tzatziki sauce. And while you can easily just buy a premade Tzatziki sauce from the store, making this from scratch is so worth it.

I LOVE mediterranean cuisine. It’s always so light and refreshing but so satisfying and I never get sick of it. These Greek pita pizzas are perfect for a quick weekday lunch and I love making these for Cannon too. He is obsessed with the Tzatziki sauce just like his mama! I just cut the pita in strips so he can grip the bread and bite it. The loose toppings obviously fall off but he just eats them separately from the pita bread. Read More

Highlight of the Decade: Our Wedding Video

12.31.19

Miracle: The Wedding of Nikki and Thor Butler from Lightfield Lewis on Vimeo.

This video is so meaningful to me. It highlights some of my greatest highs of the decade, and one of my deepest lows.

Obviously, the video showcases our wedding our favorite city, San Diego. We sealed our love after dating for six years and it was one of the greatest weekends of my life. It was also a weekend that shared one of the toughest situations I have ever had to deal with: my dad’s health scare and therefore, his absence during my wedding because he was recovering in the hospital. Also – my little man makes an appearance!

This is about all I’ll say in this blog post because the video really speaks for itself. Make sure you have a tissue nearby. This one is a bumpy ride!

Spiked Holiday Mulled Cider

12.19.19

For me, cider was an acquired taste. And the way that I make it now, I especially like it because it’s a little bit sour from the ingredients I use (like the green apples, cranberry juice and green apple Crown Royal). I’m not a big sweets person, so those ingredients are crucial for me to enjoy a warm cup of this mulled cider!

What is “mulled”, you ask? I asked this question too, don’t worry you’re not dumb.

mull: verb
past tense: mulled; past participle: mulled
warm (a beverage, especially wine, beer, or cider) and add spices and sweetening to it.

So it’s a verb, not an adjective. Meaning you are warming whatever liquid you feel like warming. Read More

This holiday look is a little more dramatic than “Glittery & Bright” but is just as amazing. It definitely screams more Christmas with the red lip so it’s perfect for 24th or 25th! Nothing like a good cat eye to really complete the drama. (Be sure to add in a sassy hair flip throughout the night too lol).

An all black outfit really makes the red lip take centerstage. Here’s how Bryanna Casey from the Phoenix Makeup Collective created this easy-to-do-at-home look!

Holiday Makeup: Glittery & Bright

12.12.19

I am OBSESSED with this holiday look! I honestly want to wear it everyday and I think it would be totally acceptable actually. The gold, shimmery liner is absolutely to die for and really brightens up your eyes in a subtle way that still packs a lot of punch.

The lip goes to perfectly with it too. It’s just a slight shade of orange but really rounds out the gold liner. And then the light, rosy cheeks are a perfect touch for the holiday season.

The brows really just get me. These are my DREAM brows. I love fanning them out like this. Bry with the Phoenix Makeup Collective took a disposable mascara wand, dampened it with some water and then rubbed it on Dr. Bronner’s bar soap and combed my brows upward. That’s IT. These guys stayed liked this all day long. I honestly asked Bry twice if that’s really what she did because I didn’t believe her for a second. She knows all the best tips I swear.

Here is a breakdown of what Bry did to make my face a holiday face!
