THANKS YOU’S

I have to start off this blog post by thanking a few people who made my dream baby shower happen.

  • Thor (husband) – for tolerating me and my toddler ways of begging to get what I want lol
  • My parents (all four of you) – for funding my dream baby shower. You’re all so gracious and so giving, especially only one year after my wedding! ANGELS!
  • Sarah & Adam (our friends) – for not only opening up your beautiful home to our crazy family and friends (many of which are mutual I might add ha), but for offering to do so that one night we were at City Hall for dinner! You guys are the best.

Without all of these very special people, none of it would have happened. Love you all <3

MY VISION

My vision was to create a look that was a mix of glam and boho styles with a few desert elements to keep true to my Arizona heart, as always. I really wanted to include color, but more muted, earthy tones. My first step to achieving this was to work with a specialty rental company and choose pieces that were neutral and later work in some color pieces with softer shades. Next, I chose a photographer whose editing style was light but also somewhat moody so the images would reflect the vibe I was hoping to achieve. (Does any of this even make sense? Lol). Baby Butler is a boy after all, so it only felt necessary to incorporate blue. However, going along with the muted look, I did everything in my power to avoid the “cheesy, overdone, all-cobalt-blue-everything” look that you see all the time. NO NAUTICAL THEME OVER HERE. Our cake, cookies, macarons, jello shots, signage and some furniture pieces included blue and I think looped in the gender of the baby without being tacky. As far as the guest list goes, I wanted ALL of our friends and family there, so that meant the men too! Since the shower was going to be coed, it felt natural to forego the formal sit-down brunch/lunch setting and create a space that was laid back and lounge-y. I am also a firm believer in the idea that if these people were going to take time out of their precious Saturday to celebrate my new baby who wasn’t even here yet, then I am going to provide them with all the booze they wish to consume. Just because I can’t drink, doesn’t mean no one else can, amiright?

THE DETAILS

Photography

Megan Claire Photography… this babe is a SAINT. The photographer I had hired originally had to cancel the week of my shower and Megan was recommended to me by a friend. She had a wedding to shoot that day but was so sweet and amazing to come by our shower beforehand to ensure I had memories of my baby shower forever!! Megan was an angel and later photographed us with Cannon in the hospital the day after he was born. Her aesthetic is just amazing and was the perfect fit for what I was looking for.

Rentals

As I mentioned above, I really wanted a natural, gender-neutral feel to the baby shower, but with muted pops of color. Dang Fine Rentals has the best selection of specialty rental furniture here in the Valley so they were a no-brainer to work with to capture my vision!

Cake

Inspired by indigo mud cloth, Mae Flour Cakes made an adorable single-tier cake that captured the style I was going for.

Cookies

Also by Mae Flour Cakes, these sugar cookies were to die for––I definitely ate four––and said “OH BOY” on them.

Macarons

White with a deep blue filling, Mae Flour Cakes created a guest favorite with these aesthetically pleasing confections.

Jello Shots

Blue raspberry jello shots in syringes… these truly set the tone for our baby shower haha! I loved that this element alluded to the fact that all babies need to get their shots! **It was an unusually hot day and they melted and spilled all over some people lol.

Signage

I purchased this cute template on Etsy, customized the text, printed the signs out and then placed them in photo frames that I had laying around our house. EASY PEASY.

Florals

Form Floral brought my floral dreams to life with these arrangements! Still included color, but they were balanced out with some wispy, natural blooms. We had a couple of larger arrangements for the dessert table and coffee tables, plus a few bud vases scattered all throughout the backyard. They also provided us with a greenery garland for the arch that went behind the sofa in the lounge space. Malori is a floral genius! Highly recommend hiring her for your next event.

Taco Truck

Not only were the tacos super delicious with a straight off the streets of Mexico vibe, but Modern Tortilla was such a joy to work on top of all of that! We had chicken and steak tacos, chips and salsa, and eloté. ¡Ay Caramba! Oh so good.

Balloons

Good ol’ Amazon. Funny story about these balloons… I originally purchased the phrase, “OH BABY”. However, we lost a “B”, the “A” and then had to fix a puncture in the O. So all we had to work with was “BOY”. Got the point across; these balloons were the bane of my existence that day.

Makeup

Bryanna Casey of The Makeup Collective! She is a freaking artists and has an extensive background working in film, TV and fashion, specifically New York Fashion Week amongst many others!

Hair

@thetarahair of Hainsworth & Co, of course! Would I ever let anyone else do the honors? However, funny story—my rings caught a hold of the original style Tara did and completely ripped out a massive strand of hair, ruining the whole thing… so I had to improvise and make some changes sadly!!

Dress

Free People, DUH. From one of my favorite boutiques, Van de Vort (my cousin’s bestie’s shop). I can only find it in Navy, here.

Attire

We requested that everyone in attendance wear blue! It was really cute and made the photos look way better hahaha because IT’S ALL ABOUT THE PHOTOS.

OVERALL…

It was SUCH a good day. We couldn’t ask for a better support system. Baby Butler is so loved.
